To clarify: When starting a DVD I always choose English subtitles, whenever possible. The problem is that when I make a mistake and try to go back to the setup menu, the DVD memory won't allow me to do so. I have tried removing the disc and attempting to start again, but the memory returns me to the last viewing. I have closed it down and tried again the next day, to no avail. So I need to clear the DVD memory of the disc to start again. How do I do this?

It seems we missed this question when asked earlier this year.

I'm not sure what sort of players you have here. Some players remember the last disc inserted, and offer to resume. You can usually instruct it to continue, or simply restart. Other players act as if it has never before seen that disc.

There's really no user-adjustable memory to "clear".

At worst, you'd have to unplug the player, and then plug it back in -- the oldest tech trick that exists (aside from hitting it).
