Hi,

I am new to this forum and lovin it, a lot of knowledge.
I recently obtained a JVC SR-W5U and was hoping someone has a parts deck they would be willing to sell the side panels from it? would the 7u work as well?
Or any help on where to obtain these panels would be greatly appreciated!
your replies are much appreciated.

EDIT: sorry about the double post, i thought the first one didn't go through for some reason.

No problem.

I expect some of our experienced JVC owners will be by to give advice in the next day or so. I never had this model, and from what I hear, it probably a good thing. Spare parts are rare, and expensive when found. I do wish you luck, however. Hopefully somebody has what you are looking for.

they are next to impossible to repair if anything W-VHS specific fails
the only way to get parts is to buy another broken deck
they where never made in great numbers
they are also very fragile and don't ship well.
the component jacks on the W5U are also very easily damaged - never use Monster or any other tight fitting cords
the W7U has BNCs instead and so dont have that problem

some of the transport part are interchangeable with certain early 90's decks
like the HR-S7100U and SR-S365u

Thank you both for your input
I realized only after i bought the unit that i shouldn't of....figures
it seems to work good but on some VHS tapes it barely picks up audio.
I will have it professionally cleaned and gone through.
chamois and alcohol would be the best cleaning solution?
