Wanted: Chinese Easycap Somagic SMI Grabber (aka EZCAP170 VER1.0) [ENDED]
Anyone suckered into buying one of these pieces of trash? I want to take it off your hands. :D
It's a specific Easycrap device that was sold for $20 or less, but I think it's been discontinued. Literally the only reason I'm interested is that the driver offers 720x486 capture resolution. Normally devices that can grab those extra lines are limited to the pro market. Just curious whether it actually does it, if they are just blanked, or if the functionality is otherwise broken. Several different casing variants: https://github.com/Manouchehri/smi20...i/DevicePhotos http://www.cloudynights.com/topic/37.../#entry4749613 http://bonybrown.blogspot.ca/2011/09...and-linux.html (also looks like it could be fun to play around with programatically) https://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Somagic https://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/E...omagic_EasyCAP https://github.com/btrask/EasyCapVie.../Documentation (this particular device should use the GM7113C "SAA7113-compatible" clone video decoder according to the teardowns) https://github.com/stevelacy/EasyCap Also sold in Japan as SD-USB2CUP-L. |
I have one somewhere. It was about $35 shipped.
The luma/chroma quality is dreadful. Even if it can capture extra lines, what's the intention here? |
To me, the S-Video luma quality of the STK1160 Easycap that I have is good. The chroma resolution does suck, and it's awful for composite. (Audio probably sucks too, but I'm not sure I've even tried that.)
I'd like to play around with one for $10-15, if it's about the same as the STK1160's SC8113 decoder. |
Was what I snatched a while back with component inputs?

BTW, as I've now gotten more comfortable with a "raw" capture setup that can record an entire analog signal (composite 525i, FM direct from a player, other radio signals) I no longer want this device. :D |
