I've decided to part with our 1980s (1981?) family VCR.
I know this site has some antique VCR collector. Here's your chance.
- This is the
MONTGOMERY WARD GEN-10521 -- probably RCA SelectaVision VET205 clone (looks similar)
- Has both coax and the screw-in F type connector, both in and out (back)
- Has mono RCA audio and composite video, both in and out (front)
- Dials for UHF and VHF
- SP, LP and SLP, recording and playback
- Top loading
- True manual tracking
- Does not understand copy protection, ignores it
- Works!
It was used in the 80s, then retired to the closet for a better VCR (HiFi, remote, etc). I pulled it back out around 1997. Every couple of years, it was useful to play unusually stubborn tapes. When I began capturing a few years later, it was used to transfer some stubborn tapes, especially LP. At the time, Panasonic AG-1980P decks were still $1k, so not yet an owner. Every few years, I'd pull it out. It played tapes when last used.
It's been in an inside closet (at whatever house I lived in at the time) since the 80s, pulled out only when needed.
Price: $50 + shipping. eBay sold pricing for top loaders is about $50 to $125, so the price is fair.
Will upload photo soon.
