I bought two new internal SATA DVD drives and connected to the PC via USB using a SATA / USB adapter but the first drive was recognized in Windows normally the first time I connected to the PC but the second drive was only recognized after I plugged in and unplugged 2 or 3 times the drive on the adapter and then on the PC, is this normal? both drives read the disc one of them had a little noise with the disc inserted and the tray closed automatically after minutes without inserting a disc

are these events normal because the drive was stopped at the store? it was manufactured in 2020

Like I told you, those adapters are not reliable. Adapters are not enclosures.

I don't have the money to buy the case, they are very expensive for Brazil so I bought the adapter to test the drives outside the PC, in my case the most likely is that there was a problem with the adapter? are the drives good? https://http2.mlstatic.com/D_NQ_NP_9..._122020-O.webp

I understand that you're trying to avoid spending money, but it really will not work for this. The USB adapters lack the chipsets that are needed, as used by enclosures. It just will not work reliably, if at all. Even worse are cheap adapters, the stuff you see from random China sellers (Aliexpress, etc).

Nobody likes spending money. I sure don't. But to get the proper tools, sometimes we must.

I don't know which adapters you used, but for full-size optical (and hard drives) you need an adapter that can deliver both 12 volt and 5 volt power. The common usb->sata adapters you find are typically made for the smaller laptop hard drives and only deliver 5 volt power. USB doesn't deliver 12 volt power so a capable adapter (or full-size external drive) will typically come with a separate power adapter (example, I don't know about chipset issues). (In theory it would maybe be possible to deliver 12 volt through usb 3.1, but idk if any adapters do that.)
