I'm having a problem getting my JVC DVD recorder to use TYG02 or TYG03 discs which are 8x-R discs. It will work just fine with TYG01 discs 1X-4X discs. Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone know if this recorder has a problem with all 8X-16X -R discs or is it with just Taiyo Yuden discs?

CP32 you are a genius! The only problem is everything that is available now is 1X to 8X. It may just be it has a problem with Taiyo Yuden 1X-8X -R discs. I know it will burn 1X to 4X Taiyo Yuden -R discs. I got those in a trade a while back and have been using them, but I'm beginning to run low.

I ws just curious if anyone else has had this problem with this DVD recorder.

I just tried Verbatim -R discs and I'm getting the same error message. Does anyone know if you have to download some program to get this JVC DVD Recorder to use 1-8X discs.

I know it will work with Sony RW discs, but trying to get it to use anything else has been a problem. I know several of you have this same model (LS, Neuroslicer), have you guys had any problems?

What about using DVD-RW discs and then copy to DVD-R on your computer?

I guess I could do that. I've been recording Matlock eps in video mode and was just recording them on TY-R 1X to 2.4X (which have been working fine) finalizing and plan to edited the commercials out and do menus when I have all the eps.

I just find it strange that I having so much trouble finding compatible discs to use in this DVD recorder.

Most recorders barf on 8x media, randomly. I have no troubles using 16x discs on my LiteOn's or JVC. Try some of the MCC03RG20's

I believe that is Verbatim -R discs, which is what I just tried to use. I was just wondering if there was some type of firmware that I need to upload in to this JVC recorder to make it use the higher 4X to 16X discs.
I thought that they were several people who use this same recorder and may have had the same problems.
