CD-Recordable.com - DVD manufacturing info?
Wondering if anybody has ever heard of or even had any experiences with long defunct (IIRC they went out of business in 2002) and very small US based media manufacturer "CD-Recordable.com".
I was quite surprised to find out that they actully did manufacture DVD-R media (at that time they were one of a very few non-Asian DVDR producers). Did the ultra rare and extremely poor supported DVD-R MID code "REC001" belong to them? Here is their web site, archived via archive.org: http://web.archive.org/web/200104010.../duradisc.html |
Were these the guys that were somehow associated with Mitsui and later became MAM-A? These guys didn't last very long, mostly because of their lack of advertising.

MAM-A bought Mitsui technology and the brand name. "MAM-A" stands for either "Mitsui Advanced Media of America" or "Making Advanced Media (America)", depending on how old the information is. MAM-E later came along, and was in Europe. I think MAM-E is long gone at this point in time.
All of it was crap. People used to refer to it as being worse than RitekG04 or fake TY/MCC discs. Always follow the money: Quote:
Mitsui made media in Colorado, in the CD-R days, and lots of people liked it. I was never a fan of Mitsui, even in the CD-R era. Taiyo Yuden, Pioneer (PVC), Mitsubishi, and Maxell was much better. ... but the topic may be getting sidetracked. :o |
