Sony DVD+R RitekF16 as good as MBIPG101R05 Moser Baer?
Are Sony DVD+R RITEKF16 made by Ritek Corp. in Taiwan as good as Sony DVD+R MBIPG101R05 made by Moser Baer India Ltd. in India?
I recently bought two spindles of Sony DVD+R at Staples. Per "DVD Identifier", one spindle is RITEKF16 made by Ritek Corp. in Taiwan. One spindle is MBIPG101R05 made by Moser Baer India Ltd. in India. I've been using Sony RITEKF16 discs for years with excellent success. But "Blank DVD Media Quality Review – The Digital FAQ – Media Guides & Services", http://www.digitalfaq.com/reviews/dvd-media.htm , has no reference for MBIPG101R05, although there are references to four other MBIPG101... Media IDs. Is there any info on the quality of the Sony DVD+R MBIPG101R05 discs, and is this the end of the Sony DVD+R RITEKF16 discs? |
On RitekF the F stands for Fuji, which is an oxonol dye, which is excellent. That is much better than MBI which is made in India, which is crap. Anything made in Taiwan that is currently Sony brand is going to be Fuji oxonol, the RitekF.
Hopefully, these are from Taiwan. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...SIN=B00067DUB8 -JMP |

Hi pepst. :)
On the MBI, that's interesting. But what about the build quality of the discs? That's always been a problem with MBI is the high coaster rate. Even when using an MCC dye unfortunately, and I wanted those to be good disc. So while Fuji oxonol is not as good as MCC (though close!), I'm afraid that will be a better overall disc, without getting the straight MCC Verbatims. -KP |
