Scans alone are NOT how discs are judged.
FTI media has
- a higher coaster count
- inconsistent production quality
- reflectivity issues -aka- compatibility with readers/players and burners
It's very good media, yes. But it does not belong in that top tier of 95%+ near-perfect media.

I'm not sure than a OptiArc is going to give you reliable scans.

FTI Media Code Will Be Use For DVD+R DL.
Thats Better TO Say Thats A FTI DISC With Licensed TDK Media Code.

Hi all,
First post here but many of you will know me from other similar forums elsewhere on the web. I have recently acquired some "FalconMedia Pro" CD and DVD media and can honestly say that this media is some of the best I have EVER used, no ifs, no buts. The discs physically look to be of a very high quality construction with smooth edges, a wonderful inkjet surface (if specified) and the dye looks consistent and without blemishes. Falcon Technologies International (FTI) uses TDK and Mitsubishi stampers, ATIP/MID and dye technologies under license. Falcon CD-Rs have ATIP = 97m15s05f and DVD-Rs have MID = TTH02. In both cases, the quality of the product exceeds that of what previously came out of the Japan, USA and Luxembourg plants based on my very own testing methodology. That having said, I also have some packs of Falcon "Corporate" DVD-R that returns results similar to that of Taiyo Yuden's "OEM" or "ValuLine" range - not bad but not great either, but at least they're being passed off as a lower grade product. A testament to the quality of FTI media is the fact that even Verbatim are using their services to produce their "UltraLife" range of CD-R media.
Hope that helps.

What is your "very own testing methodology"?

I purchase a quantity of any given media and write two pieces - one at rated speed and one at maximum CLV speed (usually 6X) on each of my main writers (currently includes the Pioneer BDR-209, Pioneer BDC-S02, Sony Optiarc AD-7240S, Plextor PX-755SA, LiteON LH-20A4P and BenQ DW1640). I then run a TRT on at least one of my drives with poorer error correction capabilities and then parity testing is performed with the abovementioned Plextor, LiteON and BenQ drives using recommended standards (e.g. 4X/1ECC for LiteON, 8X/8ECC BenQ, QPxTool defaults for Plextor). Is that thorough enough for you?

Thank you. Have any studies (like China Lake) been conducted where Falcon Media DVDs were used?

Honestly, I don't believe that many optical media-related studies have been carried out over the past decade or so, since optical storage is more or less a known quality. I've been involved with optical storage since the late-1990s when CD recordable technology became popular in my country and have a vast collection of media as well as drives, both old and new. Many of my long-term results contradict the results from 'official' performance tests (e.g. cyanine CD-Rs not lasting as long as phthalocyanine CD-Rs is a myth IMO) but generally, I have found that the longevity of optical storage media depends on the manufacturer and its tolerances more so than the dye type used, and of course also long-term storage conditions. One of my earliest-recorded CD-Rs, a Sony CDQ-74BN from 1997 made by Taiyo Yuden (gold reflective layer, cyanine dye), is still not only fully readable on today's high-speed readers, but has very low parity errors, as if it had just been written today.
