Professional way to capture old videotapes VHS?
 

Hi to all! I have to capture old videotapes and I would to know some advise to make it. I'm not an expert in this field but I know that it's convenient have a good video board on PC (I have a Nvidia Geforce GTX 850M), and also a good video recoder (I have to choose it, but I was looking the JVC HR s9500, is it good?). For the A/D converter I don't know which is good. I would to buy professional equipment because I will record only one time the VHS with the best quality. Someone can help me? thank you

Italy uses the PAL format, so seek out one of the recommended PAL models. Do some reading here on the website guides and the forum. Come back with specific questions. :)

The preferred workflow of site staff and many forum regulars includes using Windows XP instead of just any PC with sufficient speed, because their preferred hardware (ATI All-in-Wonder boards) doesn't have much driver support in Vista and beyond.

PM lordsmurf as he can sell you a guaranteed good quality TBC and capture device (both of which can do PAL) and help you find a PAL VCR seller in Europe. It will probably cost ~$1000 U.S., most of which you can recoup by selling off the equipment after you're done with the project.

BTW, your video card has nothing to do with the quality of your captures. The only time it comes into play is if it supports CUDA encoding and that is only to speed up reencoding of your videos, which you shouldn't do if you want the best quality which will be the lossless video you capture.
