I'm trying to debug some forum errors, one of which is email related ...
-- especially the emails members get when their thread, or threads they've participated in, are replied to.

You should get this email:

Code:
From: digitalFAQ.com Support Forum
Title: digitalFAQ Reply: '(thread title)'
Code:
Dear (username),

At the digitalFAQ.com forum, "admin" replied to a post you made
in the topic named "(thread name)"

See it at http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/showthread.php?t=(thread-number)
Visit the site to read the new post and/or reply to it.

Do not reply to this e-mail. Visit the site.

View all of your thread subscriptions at
http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/subscription.php?do=viewsubscription&folderid=all

Thanks,
digitalFAQ Staff
Please let us know if you ARE or if you ARE NOT getting these emails.

My own tests of the system all passed. However, one person has some issues. (We're trying to track those down currently, to see if it's us, or the recipient mail server.)

Thanks

I received 2 notifications yesterday. Thread notification in my profile was turned off more than a year ago, so these are the first I've received since then.

I get them, but I'd like to submit a bug. I shouldn't be getting thread reply notifications if I was the one who posted the reply to begin with!

Received 6 this morning to my Gmail inbox. I wasn't receiving them previously and had wondered what the problem was.

From what we can tell, only Gmail is being b!tchy about the new mail server settings. Some mail may have been diverted to the spam folder for Gmail users for the past few days. Just check it, and mark us as safe or "not spam".

It's good to hear that, hopefully, Gmail is seeing the error of its ways, if the mail is now landing in the inbox.

What's really odd is that the new settings are more secure than the old ones (via SMTP + DKIM), so Gmail should love the new settings! Other ISPs, freemails, and indy mail servers are not having any issue that we can see. In fact, deliverability is now better. Previously, all reply mail had been sent using the simple mail() protocol required by IIS6. That setting was actually an oversight made years -- all other site mail had been SMTP the entire time, as allowed in IIS7.

I think Gmail was marking it "suspicious" since the settings changed after 5 years. Which is stupid, of course.

I've never liked Gmail.
