Panasonic NV-HS1000 quirks or myths?

Hi. I've bought a Panasonic NV-HS1000 on ebay and have a few "myths" I need answered if anyone have experience with that S-VHS machine.

1. My STEREO led is not on when playing a movie with stereo. Even if I set both left and right it's still off. Is that right?

2. Do this machine NOT have battery backup. Everytime I cut the power from the machine I have to install clock again.

3. When using tracking with the remote then nothing changes. And what is A1, A2 and A3 when tracking?

Thanks

Volt.

Is the VCR set to play stereo? The tape may have stereo, but the VCR lets you enable or disable the stereo. Verify that. If it shows mono, it's probably playing mono.

I'm not aware of any S-VHS deck that has a battery internally. If you want a battery backup (and it's suggested!), get a UPS. And I never waste my time settings the clock anyway. I prefer --:--

Are you sure that "nothing" changes. Or is it simply a bad tape that cannot be tracked?

It is not showing mono but the stereo lights is not turned on either.

When tracking nothing changes picture wise but it plays all tapes just fine.
