Hey there,

Have made an entry into a video competition and would like thoughts on what I could do better? We were not able to take a slider or anything, which I think is my immediate area for improved shots? Post your thoughts please, this is my first competition! If you like it, please do so on Vimeo, if you really like it please share also??

Would love technical advice also, use of lens, positioning/angles, editing, music etc.

- There's no payoff. Why was I watching it? Without it, it's just random footage.
- Color was usually good -- a few shots were muddy. The treetops shot at 0:16 was colorless and blah.
- Watch color/light/tint changes. It's an easy reminder that it's separate shots, not a continuous scene.
- Use a tripod, monopod, anything. You shake too much.
- I like the down-up angle. The different shots at start were nice.
- Good DOF.
- Nice focusing on non-bike stuff while you see blurry bike.
- Some bad editing around 0:49.
- Not a fan of blurry foreground in front of lens. Either focus on it, or don't show it.
- That garage door opening was terrible. Something bad happened there.
- The bight green jacket was a good color choice.

I would have like to see ending where he spots this cute girl and falls off his bike, after seeing all that smooth riding.

Thanks! I should have mentioned the theme of the video competition is to show what you do in your mountain bike life. So it's a specific competition.

Yeah the lighting and colour consistency will be something to work on.

In regards to smoother footage, tripod with a slider would have added a lot, we just left in all in the car due to rain on the walk up. Regrettable though, hopefully do some reshoots.

Keep the advice/thoughts coming. I like critical thoughts, only way to get better!

What about this video? Keeping in mind that this is for a mountain bike life competition. The premise is that we spend way too much time living out our busy lives indoors and on screens. The real world is outside, go out there. Live. Dream. Ride.

Thanks for watching, like on Vimeo and share if you're inclined. Then go ride.
