I have been going through some very tough financial times past 6 months , almost got evicted from my Apartment after 21 years here, but all is good now, some nice folks including my brother, came to the rescue!
During the threat of having to reduce/sell and throw things away, just in case the worst happened, I was faced with deciding what was the most important things to keep. (Besides my 1974 Rickenbacker guitar, the Cats, and the audio Cassettes of us jamming in the 1980's) It was my Video capture VCR, and Windows XP PC and capture equipment, plus the VHS tapes I still haven't capped yet, that was on top of the list! The whole system was put together using the expert and trustworthy advice given here on DFAQ, and by now is almost impossible to replace! So a very grateful Happy Holidays to DFAQ Staff and Members!

Selling off my equipment is sometimes stressful to me, and that's just my extra gear. I keep setups for myself, and in triplicate or more, because I know this gear is all rare(ish) now, especially in this condition. I can't imagine having to sell off everything. It's good to hear that you've not had to go down that route.
