Is it good to store as backup 40gigs of pics onto a 115GB harddrive? I guess leave it in a PC unhooked? or store it elsewhere? Whut is the best way to sync new pics to the backed up drive to keep everything accurate? Thx!

Uhh, I don't think leaving 40gbs of pics on a hard drive is a bad idea. Although dependent on the company who makes it, it shouldn't mess up. I guess you could buy an external enclosure and hook it up when you need to add more pictures to store it on.

Just my thoughts.

Please- archive it, archive it, archive it. HDDS are not that reliable and can go on you without any notice. Take the time, using good dvdr media and back up the 40 gigs. If you still want to copy them to another drive, by all means do so, but at least make a disc backup as well

Use plenty of good DVD-R/DVD+R. Stash them on a spindle, and put it in a desk drawer, on a shelf, or in a closet.
