Internal TBC VCR or HQ Non-TBC VCR + Panasonic DMR-ES10?

Would it be better to feed the s-video out of a high quality none TBC VCR through a DVD recorder that removes tearing like the Panasonic DMR-ES10, then through an external TBC.
