Because Comcast is encrypting even basic cable, the digital tuner on the Maganavox is useless.
The Comcast HD DTA has only HDMI output and the RF output.
Since the Maganavox does not have a HDMI...

I received a free HD DTA from Comcast which has a HDMI output, so watching TV isn't a problem.

I have a Panasonic Blu-ray player. It always plays my homemade DVDs in 4x3 format instead of 16x9. The same discs on plays 16x9 on my Magnavox DVD recorder.

Replacement drive for JVC DMR10 DVD recorder?

I have finally gotten around today to taking the cover off my JVC again.

The DVD drive part number is PMD0100A which obviously isn't available anymore.

What would be good replacement for this...

I suspect the drive needs to be replaced.

But it does the same thing with a virgin 2x DVD-RW disc (Fuji made in Singapore, a brand that worked flawlessly before). I still had a box of 5.

Here where I am they still have analog TV signals on their feed.

It's not that the signal isn't there, it just seems to me that the Magnavox's tuner...
