It's definitely a tape issue (only some of them have corrupted timing). I am using HR-S9600 and converted many tapes before without problem. Nor the capture device is problem - the same...

Lost time code on VHS tapes?

Some of my VHS lose time code at certain moment of playing. VCR display counter stops count - numbers are frozen. Cassette is still playing but picture disappears, reappears, disappears, reappears......
