Any of the models listed here (http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/video-capture/10257-video8-hi8-digital8.html) will have a better TBC than the TBCish found in a DMR10/15.

Maybe you looked at the video too closely after it was uploaded? Supposedly YouTube re-encodes videos to like 10 combos of resolution, etc. for different devices. I've sometimes found it takes awhile...

I would think not as it usually adds noise. I usually only use the proc amp controls on my TBC to fine tune the brightness/contrast levels, and even then that's only occasionally.

Ditto. Every Beta deck I've seen with a dub jack also has YPbPr out on BNCs. Just get some adapters. I have even seen 3/4" decks with Y/C out on BNCs (literally separated video!)
