Exclamation Is it possible to improve that Rare Concert video

It s a VHS rip to DVD that I also concert in AVI format.
So I have both DVD and AVI.
It s a Michael Jackson concert from 1984.
The video has been stolen from the big screen during a concert then copy on VHS in 84.
Today The quality is horrible.
So is it possible to improve the quality to make it perfect?

That almost looks like an undead zombie version of MJ there. Yikes. The quality is more or less beyond repair. At best, some of it can be cleaned up a tiny bit.

This is also very clearly a multi-generational copy of a VHS tape, done on poor grade consumer VCRs. I'd have to say this is at least 5 times removed from the first master tape.

There have also been digital artifacts added on top of it, namely the blocks. Chroma noise was also not pre-filtered, so you have messy red/blue tints in shadows and elsewhere, moving about in the video.

The overscan can be masked out. If you don't know what that means, then read the sticky about video noise at the edge of converted tapes, and how to fix it: http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/show...erted-315.html

What kind of AVI is it? Lossless HuffYUV, uncompressed AVI, something compressed like XVID/Divx?

The chroma/color, luma and IRE all appear to be severely damaged in the image. A difficult repair, with only minimal results possible.
