I'm the proud owner of several DVHS VCRs, JVC HM DT100U and JVC HM DH30000U. For a while I was using Fios to record from their IEE1394 port, but I no longer have that service.

I still wish to record on tape, so I have a Grassvalley ADVC HD50 HDMI to IEE1394 convertor box. I'm having several issues.

Coupled with a stripper, I've tried several sources, Roku Ultimate, Pioneer BDP 05FD Blu Ray player, and while the IEE1394 port on my VCRs recognize the signal, the recorded signal is unwatchable, and is very blocky, as if my video heads are dirty.

I know that it's an issue with the Roku, BDP, and my HV40 HDV camcorder, because if I hook the output from my Nintendo Switch directly into the box, I am able to playback glitch free, no problems.

If someone could give me some advice on how to rectify these issues, that would be greatly appreciative.

I do have an older Dell Dimension 8300 with a IEE1394 I/O, so if anyone has any hints on how to properly get that to communicate with the VCR, that would be a great help.
