Watch UHD 4k film in your home for the first time this year

Sony's 84 inch UHD TV will come with 4k feature length films. This is the first time the consumer can watch theatre-quality feature length films at home.

I like bumping old posts like this.

It's been almost 2 years since the huge 4k TV sets were announced, but you never see or hear about 4k, much less large sets. I walked into Best Buy a few weeks back, and it was HD only from what I could see. You can find 4k sets online at Amazon and others, but at a higher cost than 1080p.

Worse yet, after all this time, there's still no 4k content on the horizon -- neither disc nor (realistic) downloadables.

This was an unanswered question or unresolved issue found during a site audit. It's hard to have an FAQ when the answers are missing, or final outcomes are unknown. And just to update, I've walked into a store and seen UHD tv's, especially the curved ones. Also, the UHD bluray format has been finalized, and the major streaming services support 4k now. So it's definitely progressing and should change a lot next year. For example, Intel has worked with monitor manufacturers to make 4k cheaper.

Yes but Youtube now supports 4k, for those with the bandwidth. Currently to download this within a reasonable time one needs a T- or E-carrier, but hopefully at some point this will be within the budget of most people.

Even blu-ray has never reached the success of dvd.
