Microsoft Outlook 2007 non-encrypted warning

I am using office 2007 outlook for my email retrieval program, it gives me this (0X800CCC13) error now and then, saying an encrypted connection is not available, I have searched and this appears to be a fairly common problem and no one knows how to fix it...should I use another program to download my email accounts emails? Seems Mozilla's Thunderbird rates high with people and is free, would this be good to use?

I still use Outlook 2003, because 2007 was not to my liking.
That seems to be a generic Outlook error code, and means many things, so what's the actual error message says (exactly).
It's usually the server that causes these.

We use Thunderbird here. It's much better than Outlook for IMAP accounts. I only use Outlook for POP3.

I'd either roll back to 2003 if you have it, or use Thunderbird.

My email accounts are POP3, and I am not sure of the exact language as the error stays up only a few seconds, but the message is like cannot connect to server and gives the error code, when I go to my accounts and do a repair (as I was told to do by the tech support for my server) it tells me an encrypted connection is not available and would I like to try a non encrypted connection and I say "No" and it cancels.

Outlook is screwy with secure/SSL connections.
Use Thunderbird.

Can I have more than 1 email client at a time on the computer? Download, install and use Thunderbird and leave Outlook on until I get used to TB?

Yes. I have 5 email accounts in it.
Be careful using several email programs if you mail is POP3. It'll be all over the place.

Mine are the POP3, I have 5 mail boxes myself, what I am curious about is can I have 2 different email programs? I assume as soon as I launch Thunderbird it will ask me to make it my default email program and outlook should still function,...correct? Or can this cause any problems?

POP3 takes your mail from the server. So if one program takes it, the other cannot. You can't use both.
At best, you can "leave a copy on the server" (a Thunderbird and/or Outlook option), but now you have all the emails twice over.

You can use both programs -- I do -- but not really the same account in both. That's a mess.

Not entirely sure which you're asking.

I went to install Thunderbird and it warned me that my server did Not use an encrypted connection...is this normal for a POP3? I really don't understand the complete workings of the email side of home computers. I have several small business and I have a separate email accounts for each as my service provider allows me like 20 different ones. Should I be concerned about this and what should I do?

This. Most ISPs have switched to SSL POP3 connections since username/passwords are transmitted in plain text otherwise. Knowing the ISP would help in setting up the connection.

My ISP (Bright house) says they don't have encryption, that the password is the protection, is this b/s? I don't really put anything in my emails but still thought they were fairly safe (I know the whole web thing is subject to hackers, etc).
