I joined this forum when I was thrilled to see there was a manual for this amazing S-VHS deck (which still works great for me), but when I downloaded the manual, it was only the spec sheet.
I've misplaced my manual, and am trying to get the 'high speed erase' button to engage....but it won't on it's own.

I'm guessing, as a precaution, it needs to be pressed with something else to get it to work. I've tried every possible combination and have failed.

Anyone in here still have their manual....or remember how to make this button function properly?
Thanks much in advance to the person who can (hopefully) come up with the answer!

(PS: I scoured the Web for an hour last night and couldn't find a copy of the manual anywhere. If someone can point me to a copy, that would be great, too!)

Have you tried pressing it once and then press again for 5 seconds? That's how the Panasonic one works.

Ha! Well, 'you' get the cigar!

While that isn't the exact method with the JVC, your '5 second' suggestion got me to go tinker with it again...and I found it!

For any others with this issue, you must first press record and pause simultaneously to get the tape engaged...then hold that 'high speed erase' button down for about 5 seconds, and away she goes!

Thanks SO much for taking the time to respond!!

You are more than welcome. And it's a useful feature when you want to return a well used tape back to a fresh state.
