Toshiba DVR. I have used this to create DVD's of my children from camera recorded VHS tapes. It has built in TBC (time base correction). It also has very good editing ability. I had previously used a computer to capture these VHS tapes, but I found that this DVR was much more "user friendly" and also made better copies.

Post or pick up from Watford Hertfordshire. UK only.

I would like £60.00 plus £8.00 post.

Paul.

Why do people always set their coffees down on user's manuals?

Nice recorder. Looks like the one real complaint people have about this model is about black level, but that shouldn't be an issue with PAL I guess.

Funny you should say that, I think the tea stain was probably me. I have another manual for something else with the same stain.
I had not noticed any deterioration in brightness in my captures. Yes they are all Pal.

Regards Paul

Toshiba's original "2" series (RD-XS32, R-D2, etc.,) had black level IRE problems. Recordings were made with the wrong IRE settings and looked lighter than the correct IRE setup for western components. They look OK when played on the machine, but not on other players with the correct IRE setup. They do have a decent y/c comb filter and a fair tbc on inputs and can be used as pass-thru. This was corrected with the "4" series, of which I have two copies of the RD-XS34 and still use them for recording.

Interesting. I haven't noticed any brightness problems at all, in fact the quality of the recordings are a lot better than the original tapes. I am using a LG BP325 Blu Ray player to playback. This is probably enhancing the picture quality.

All recordings are PAL not NTSC. I am based in England. As far as I know there is not a black level / brightness problem with PAL recordings.

Correct. PAL (and the Japanese form of NTSC) don't use "setup", so they should be fine.
