If that's what they want to do, fine. But all that will accomplish is forcing people that want/need it to look for a pirated copy. And in cases like this, I have no problem with that. It's largely considered "copyleft" software when the original coder abandons it. As far as I know, it still works, even in Windows 8, so I'm not understanding their logic. It's an easy $37 for something that they made 10 years ago.

Yeah, it's definitely an idiotic move that I don't understand. And yeah I guess once it becomes abandonware then 'pirating' it becomes easier to justify (and I mean, I'm not exactly some moral paragon when it comes to this...), but I just would prefer not to deal with serials and cracks at this point, if at all possible

Is this just referring to this particular 2.5 version? and they are coming out with a newer version?.or ALL TMPEG products? I recently downloaded TMPGEnc Authoring Works 5 trial version, but haven't activated yet. Still a bit confused about which which TMPGEnc program to use for authoring according to DFAQ suggestions? This is bad news for anyone who is thinking of (like me),or has spent $$ on this program!??

The ONLY thing being discontinued is TMPGEnc 2.5 Plus. Probably to encourage people to buy the other, more expensive products.

I asked customer support if there would be a replacement product, and they said not to their knowledge. They said I could get Video Mastering Works 6.
