Hi there,

My first post here.

I have a kramer SP-11d and I was wondering if the unit has a video detailer function. There is a sharpening(horizontal and vertical) function, but I'm not sure it does the same as a video detailer device. Do I need to buy a separate detailer ?

Thanks for your help.

I assume you're inquiring about analog capture. Why would you want to sharpen analog noise during capture? Digital capture and conversion devices hate noise.

No, this for video astronony application. The signal will be displayed on sony pvm crt monitor. I'm using the SP-11d for is proc-amp capability to enhance the color produced by my mallincam astro video camera.

It's overkill for a proc amp, with RGB adjust, sharpening, contrast, etc., and basic frame sync tbc. Its input/outpuit can be viewed and compared on a monitor but there's no real way to actually measure video levels. As long as you have its user manual and can figure out what you're doing, it should serve as a normal proc amp.

Would you recommend selling the sp-11d and get a cheaper unit like a vidicraft VDM-300S ? I could get one a lt a good price. Which one does have a proc-amp and sharpening function?

The Vidicraft isn't a detailer. The Vidicraft color controls are different. Both units are pretty well aged by now. You can find something newer looking for the successor to Vidicraft's line from Sign Video. The successor to the old Vidicraft detailer might be in better shape, but it has controls that differ from the Kramer: http://www.signvideo.com/products/pr...e-enhancer.htm. None of these units have been manufactured for years.

The kramer sp-11d was released in 2005 I think. It isn't "old" at all.
