How to see if a member exists on this forum?

Is there a way to search for a forum member? I think I saw a post by a member who is also a member on another forum. I would like to see if the member really exists on this forum and see what posts he made here. The other site has collapsed so I am interested in seeing this person's progress on his project. I searched for the member's name--search did not work. Gave an error.

What is the member's name?
If you have his/her email, then PM it to me.

Only alow members to register their real names... this way the forum stays friendly, and people don't say stupid things, the BlackMagic Design Forum does this also.
