Maintenance Related Question

Hi everyone,

I think this section of the forum might be the most appropriate location for such a question - so here goes...

At the present time, I have a JVC HR-S7800U, HR-S9911U and a new VR-V101US.

To date - my "maintenance" on the two former units has been pretty risk adverse - I mostly use 'Scotch' brand VHS Head Cleaning Cassette tapes (ones which do not utilize fluid). Aside of that, I also peroidically unscrew the covers and remove any accumulated dust inside the units themselves.

Beyond that, I have not attempted any other forms of upkeep - fearing that excessive intervention might make things unplayable or worse. Any suggestions from others concerning VHS maintenance would be appreciated.

I also have an Ebay JVC HR-S7800U, which has performed (in my opinion) quite well, maybe I got lucky. As for doing anything to it, I'm scared to death, and looking for a Boston area shop to take a look at it. I eagerly await responses to your query.
