Trying to backup and make DVD5 discs from a TV series DVD9 discs by re-encoding the videos.

Initially tried using DVD Rebuilder Pro (version 1.28.2) with HC encoder (version 0.23), then CCE SP2 encoder, and then ProCoder encoder (version 2.04). The resulting videos were poor quality with blocky images in some cases and/or fuzzy images!

Then used DVDFab (version 9.3.1.0) and that produced very good DVD5 videos with no apparent image issues!

For the same TV series, I made a few backups/conversions (from DVD9 to DVD5) many months ago using DVD Rebuilder and using the same encoders with very little image quality issues!?

In each instance (previously and recently) when using DVD Rebuilder and the encoders, the only settings changed were the quality output (Best, or Master etc), and the source, working, and target directories for the videos. Everything else was at default settings!

So why are the DVD Rebuilder outputs NOW producing poor quality videos? And what can be done to improve the quality of video outputs when using DVD Rebuilder and its associated encoders?

Note that I had to reinstall DVD Rebuilder etc after re-formatting the hard drive recently. But as far as I know the installation was normal with no apparent issues.

Running Windows 7 SP1 x64.
