I was wondering if any of you guys have suggestions on a good dvd burner that is external/portable to travel with a laptop.

I found some old threads regarding internal dvd burners but the suggested equipment is all discontinued now, couldn't find much on external.

Thanks! So glad to have some knowledgeable people to ask about stuff like this! I'm not a expert at all, I burned a dvd like 10 years ago hahaha. But I'm coming into a few projects where I need a good quality burner. I care more about quality than speed.

- DVD only or Blu-ray too?
- How important is small size and weight?
- External power supply, or USB port powered? Be aware some require connection to two USB ports to ensure enough power.

FWIW, I don't use portable BD/DVD drives, but newer laptops come without drives (the makers want you to use their cloud services) so they can be important. I prefer to use thumb drives (smaller size, more storage, and faster) when mobile and copy to optical or other media at my desktop if i need to do so.

There are lots of "Top Ten for 2019" sorts of reviews that can provide some additional information, but take reviews with a bit of skepticism.
