Good Afternoon!

I have an LG EC-330W PAL vcr that I bought on eBay. The seller swears they tested it before shipping and everything worked. That being said, I tried it out when it arrived and connected the video and audio cable but cannot get any sound. The tapes play fine and I have video, but no sound. It did not come with a remote for me to play with any of the settings, and I can't find much on this model online. I tried both PAL and NTSC tapes, both on my TV and my capture card (which captures PAL video), all with the same result. My cables work, I use them with my other VCR.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is the audio missing on both scart and phono outputs, is both linear and hi-fi audio missing and does it pass audio through from the scart input? I would try to hunt down a service manual for this or a LG unit made around the same time (they used the same PCB in a lot of different models). It's hard to say what specifically is wrong, but the SM may give a clue. I think video and (normal, not hi-fi) audio is handled by the same all-in-one IC in these modern VCRs, so it would be a bit odd for only the audio part to break, maybe it's just a loose cable or bad joint somewhere.

So this model only has a phono out that and a RF out, no scart. The audio does slightly buzz, and the VCR says HIFI on it when I turn it on if that makes any difference. I found a manual for the GC260W which looks very similar but I can't figure it out.

EC-330W doesn't exist according to google so you need to post a picture of the rear connectors so we can tel you which connector is which.

Here are pictures of the back of the unit.

With that being said, today I turned it on and played the tape and sound magically worked. Is there any logical explanation for it to just start working? Literally hasn't moved, plugged into the same TV, same cable, same tape still inside, nothing at all changed. I didn't even wiggle the cable haha, it just worked today.
