Hallo,
I saved an aesthetically perfect Panasonic nv hs950 video recorder from the landfill but that did not fully load the cassette (as soon as it was inserted it stopped and the mechanics began to scratch). Solved this problem, changing the piece of plastic vdp1434 on the loading motor, now the cassette enters and exits correctly, the tape is regularly extracted and wrapped around the drum heads, the pinch roller is lowered but by pressing play the tape does not start: the capstan turns , the reel on the right shows signs of starting but immediately stops and the tape re-enters the cassette. This happens with any command (play, ff or frew). In addition, no signal passes from any video input / output (scart / rca / antenna) and the menu screen does not even reach the monitor. I cleaned the switch mode with flux but it didn't help. What could cause these two defects? How could I recover video inputs / outputs and mechanical functions? Thank you all.:question::question:

I answer myself: the play did not start because the right brake was stuck on the pivot; once the brake has been released the tape sliding has returned to normal operation. The black in / out of the signals, including the lack of the OSD, has been resolved by replacing the transistors 2SD1996-S on the main board: now the transit of the signals to and from the outside has returned to normal.

Kudos on saving a decent deck from a landfill, and then fixing it. :congrats:

I had one of those exact transistors fail in the NV-HS1000, which disabled the 12-volt line and thus disabled most of the unit.
