Would you be able to upload a video of what happens when you try to insert a tape?

I've never done that before but I could try, there's not a whole lot to see. The mechanism just ejects straight away, nothing activates to take the film from the tape, the head cylinder is spinning but no tape is being threaded around it. It was working not so long ago, around a month, somebody had it and then was returned broken but was working previously. I have made a video on Vimeo. https://vimeo.com/446547306 |
It looks like a mode switch fault, Either dirty contacts or went out of alignment, Watch some youtube videos on how to remove it and clean it.

It is a panasonic with the z mechanism, so if you cant find a service manual for the specific deck (or something is broken on it and you need parts), the same mechanism is used in most PAL panasonics made in the late 90s to early 2000s. Other brands/models will be different.

I have a new part and now it's all fitted but the post which take the tape don't seem to want to come back far enough for it to take the tape around the drum. |
What part was it you fitted? The issue with the tape loading sounds like the loading gear has lost a tooth. Very common fault.

Now I have a new mechanism in from another machine I am facing new issues. 1. The mechanism worked perfectly when in the machine in was taken from. 2. The tapes are now playing and all functions are working. 3. The tapes now play with no sound and the picture drops out as if there was bad tracking every 10 or so seconds. The tapes are clean, the drum is clean. Any help would be appreciated, it feels like I almost have success. |
And the solution to the above is, the connection to the audio was placed in the wrong way.
It works now, thank you all for helping. |
What model was the mech taken from? If you did not change the whole video head then there will be a mismatch in electronic circuits.
|
Oh I see above. Glad you sorted.
