Sony SLV-D950 DVD VCR turns itself off when powering up?
 

Hey,

I've got a Sony SLV-D950 DVD/VCR player and it has an issue where if you plug it into the mains, then press the power button it will turn on for approximately 3 seconds and then power itself off. If I repeat this for a few minutes it will eventually turn on and stay on.

I will then press the eject button for the DVD and it makes a sound but doesn't eject at first. After about 5 attempts at pressing the eject button the disc tray works without any issues. I have no issues with the VHS side of it.

Once I have gone through the above I have no issues with the player until it is unplugged from the mains and then plugged back in again.

I have taken it apart and cleaned everything because there was some dust that had built up over time, but this has not helped.

Has anyone come across this before, or have any ideas what might be causing it?

Struggling to turn on and working after a while sounds like something that could be caused by bad power supply capacitors.
