JVC S5400U no color in SLP mode?
 

Hi there,

I have a JVC S5400U that randomly stopped displaying color for any tapes in SLP mode. It otherwise is still working perfectly, and used to display color on SLP tapes just fine. I'm not sure what happened to suddenly make it stop, and no amount of cleaning I've been able to do has fixed the problem.

Any ideas what could have happened and if this is something I can fix?

I had an issue like this on my Sony SLV-770HF
Only it was for ALL video output no matter what tape speed.

The issue was a set of surface-mounted capacitors on the video playback pre-amp board. Check that circuit on your VCR for any surface mounted caps and see if you can replace them. THat solved my issue!
