VCR player has wavy image?

Greetings, I'm new, thanks for accepting me in the forum.
For a newbie...
How to identify the type of problem that exists in a player, according to the image that is reproduced.

An example: the lateral parts of any object, person... looks wavy. As if instead of seeing a "straight" line we saw a wavy line, with curves / waves.
It's a mechanical problem, a hardware problem, an adjustment problem...

Without a sample of the video, not just a captured frame, it is difficult to make an educated guess. And even with a sample captured video it can be tricky to diagnose the issue. There are many variables in analog video tape capture ranging from the original video camera and recording device through any intermediate copy devices to the playback system and capture device.

Sounds like a standard tearing issues. Top of screen only?
