Help replacing FS200 video head?

Hi,

I've bought an FS200 video head and hoping to find some help to install it.

I've got the FS200 service manual and I'm sure my dad has an oscillscope that I've read may be needed for the job.

Any guides or tips on how to go about replacing it? I'm guessing it's not just a straight swap.

Wow, I don't envy you. That's not a task I would want to partake.

There are two forum members here that may have more information for you. Please PM them, and ask for them to reply to this thread. (Please don't ask for help in PMs -- we encourage open discussion, so that it may help others in your same situation. Post those Q&A in the forum, because it helps build this digital FAQ of a site.)

- Juhok
- deter

Juhok has quite some experiences tinkering with PAL VCRs.

While deter is mostly a NTSC gearhead, he has experience with Panasonic VCRs that should be very comparable (AG-1980P, which is NTSC version of the NV-FS200). He may have some workable insight.

See if either of them could post here in your thread. :)

My experience with VCR repair and disassembly is contained mostly to JVC gear.

So far I've left this task to cornerstone services business's. They have the tools and expertice and the operation is simple enough to be quite cheap. Not everyone knows how to do this today so it's a better to ask around before submitting your device to service. If they don't have the service manual, deliver it with the VCR.

Thanks. Do you have any contact details for them? Struggling to find a website.

I've only dealed with finnish ones. There should be a shop or two in any semi-large city.

What's your location, zeroprobe? I know of places, here and there. May have some suggestions.

any ideas? Really desparate to get it done

I wish I had more information, but do not. I'm not readily aware of a service that can repair a Panasonic S-VHS VCR, and of the contacts I have in UK, none have responded with useful information.

You may need to "call around" and see if anybody has experience with Panasonic VCRs. Try the bigger cities -- London, Manchester, Cardiff, Birmingham, Liverpool, etc. Don't waste time in smaller areas, and those are unlikely to have serious professional repair services. In USA, for example, you have to send equipment to somewhere like Dallas, Atlanta or Los Angeles.

ok, thanks for the advice. will let you know how I get on
