What is the average cost of a JVC HR-7800 repair?

I recently tried to start my JVC HR-7800 VCR that has been properly stored for the past 15 years. When I tried to put in a VHS tape into the VCR, it runs for a few seconds, then ejects. On top of that, I heard a grinding/screeching sound, as if one of the gears is not properly lubed. I would like to get this VCR repaired, but am not sure how much the repair might be or if it might be even worth it.

One thing I read was to send it into Jot's electronics. Would anyone have any idea what would be an upper bound estimate of the cost to get this VCR repaired and serviced? Thank you!

We used Jots of decades. For JVC, the average repair cost was $100.

But I'm not 100% sure they do any VCR repairs anymore. Call and ask. I know they quit doing Panasonic decks, because of the tedious nature of bad caps. But JVC rarely has caps issues, just other mechanical issues.

Two other repair facilities are TGrant Photo and AVRepair.
