Okay as the topic says i canīt get to the menu.

I have it connected with S-video, and the only way to get picture is to play a Tape, else itīs no signal.

And when it plays it plays fine i think.

though i get some dropped fields in Dscaler (about 250 in 1+ hour).
not sure if itīs the VCR or Dscaler though?

Any ideas, do you think i must connect with Scart to get it to work?
as i canīt change the output stuff on the remote or the VCR i think, itīs in the menu.

okay only way to get to the Menu is when i press the Functions button, and itīs 1/10 chance, and i canīt even do anything , it just blinks in grayinsh black and white;S

Process of elimination is required.
Plug it into the TV. See what it does there. Always test VCRs against a TV first, not a computer.

It worked with the TV, thanks !

But wonder, doesnīt Panasonic have picture modes?
was sure that it was some setting that was recommended to set to AUTO opposed to Sharpen Soft?

- JVC has picture modes on screen.
- Panasonic has picture modes on the front panel sliders, on some models.

I don't know off-hand what specific filters this unit may or may not have. I'd have to see it. (It should be obvious to anybody.)
You can also refer to the user manual, as needed.

I don't see the manual. If you have it already, please attach it to the forum.
Instructions for posting attachments is here, if needed: http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/news...ly-upload.html

Thanks.

It may not have any advanced picture modes. But it does have these:
- "3-Dimensional Digital Noise Reduction" (ref: page 4)
- "Time Base Correction: Optimises picture quality" (ref: page 4)

It probably lacks manual image control, and does everything automatically in those two NR circuits.

Okay is that good or bad;S?
I bought it cause of those features, and specially as they are separate.

Btw here is an upload of be using it, with TBC and 3DNR, is the picture as expected? (S-video is used).

nice

But does the TBC work good?
I mean, itīs pretty jaggy (lines not in sync), though itīs not Dancing lines?

But i do see pretty bad haloing, but not sure if itīs really the VCR or the Tape itself, as itīs pretty weird looking (look at the right side, itīs like stairs of blackness).

Looks to be working. I don't see any jaggy lines, aside from interlaced viewed progressive.

Is it as stable as itīs gonna get?
Cause, i am happy with the VCR itself, i mean TBC and 3DNR separated, and Panasonics "skills" to play LP tapes and stuff good.

Only thing i can complain about, is the lack of settings, picture settings.

But else, it plays nicely, doesnīt oversharpen to much i think, and it looks stable

Probably.
Correction is going to vary from tape to tape. Keep that in mind. Never assess a VCR with just one tape.
