Weak color on Panasonic AG-1980 ?
I purchased a panasonic ag 1980 from ebay and it was delivered earlier this week. I have it connected to an AIW 900 USB stick through s-video. I tried a test capture last night. The color was extremely weak, almost black and white. Is this a known problem with the VCR or tuner card? It was a very short clip that I tried for a test. I first noticed it when I tried an old home recorded tape. But I thought it may be the tape being worn out so I tried a commercial vhs and it did the same thing. Everything was nice and sharp looking, but the color was horrible.

ag-1980's are great VCR's - one of the best.
however they are notorious for bad caps and other problems. almost any used AG-1980 you buy should be checked out and serviced by a pro. these where not consumer decks - they where sold to schools and videographers and most have been very heavily used. your problem sound like some bad caps. send it out to Southern Advantage - they will go right through it for around $125 once it is 100% you will be very happy with it. |
did that include shipping or not? I saw in another thread that you had these same problems. Did they check everything else when you sent it in as well?

that doesn't include shipping.
they will completely service the deck send them an email for more info |
