I managed to "score" a Toshiba DX800 for just about free ($3.50) but all I could test at the time was that it turned on and seemed to work ok. So upon taking it home I put in one my goodwill 10 cent tapes and it sounds like the tape is trying to either fast forward or rewinding the tape constantly. None of the buttons work except the power button thankfully lol but I can't eject the tape (not that I'd want it back) can't play nothing else will work when I turn the power on except for the tape drive (I guess) tries to either play/fast forward or rewind its hard to tell.

So that being said, I can't even find any information on this model at all was it that uncommon? I find info on the DX900 but nothing else that is vcr related. I find a blip about it in popular mechanics from 1987 but no solid information. Heck I can't even find it for sale except for the remote .

Is it worth even getting it looked at? I'm no vcr tech and don't even try to be one but from what I can tell it "looks " like a high end model?

the DX-800 & DX900 are both from 1987 - which in all honesty makes them too old to be of any use converting tapes.

Agreed.
Sorry you had to waste a few bucks on it.
