1986 VCR NIB never opened plug and play? Or preventive maintenance first?
Hey there,
I just bought a 1986 RCA VCR that is still unopened. I realize this is not a great machine, but I am excited about it for aesthetic reasons. Also looking for a JVC HRS8000U which is my dream VCR, and this RCA will be my entry-level model in the meantime. Should I do anything special to it before the first play? Or just let it rip? Thanks! |

Belts will have set with the shape of the pulley and the loading belt especially will not take kindly to any deforming. I see NOS decks exactly the same as used decks - turn it on and see what it does. It may work for a bit before failing or not work at all. Keep us posted though and do share a photo or two. |
This may be obvious, but make sure the first tapes you try are not valuable in case they are eaten.

Why is a JVC HRS8000U your dream VCR? :weird:
