I lost my power adapter for my AVT-8710 so I don't know if I had a 12V or 15V adapter.

My unit did suffer from the split frames as well when I used it a couple of years ago.

Does a 15V adapter work with this unit and if so where can I get one? I'm located in the USA.

I see some universal adapters on Amazon.com but they seem to be for laptops.

P.S. I wanted to reply on thread http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/vcr-...710-doa-9.html but I got a warning not to reply to old threads, so I started this one.

You're in luck. Mine is right here.

INPUT: 120 VAC 60Hz 14W
OUTPUT: 15VDC 600mA
POLARITY: (+) --- (o --- (-)

Yeah, this isn't really part of the AVT DOA thread. This is new topic, so you made the right choice.

As far as where to get one ... Monoprice? Radio Shack? eBay? Not sure. Never gotten one of these.

The AVT-8710 on-line manual has conflicting information; it states 15 volts DC in one place, and 12 volts DC about 5 lines down the same page. It does not list a current rating.

In any case, be sure to get the polarity correct. (Many 12 volt adapters are center positive.)
Some adapters are center positive, some may be center negative the way I read the above pose..

May be try call, e-mail, or live chat with AVToolbox to be sure.
They might even sell one for a nominal charge. http://www.avtoolbox.com/avt8710.shtml
