hey guys,

I hope you could help me with a problem with my Panasonic NV-HS1000

After switching on power to my VCR the head drum spins silently and after 10 seconds it returns to "standby mode" (the mode where only the time is seen on the display (0:00)). I dont hear any noice of mechanical actions during this time.

This returning to standby happens everytime. When I try to insert a tape nothing happens. It seems that it doesn't recognize that a tape is inserted and doesn't even start to grab it.

I already have had the same problem a few months ago and somehow it solved itself back then. I hoped that it wont return. But today I wanted to watch some movies and the error was back again

P.S.: the loading motor coupling, which is often a problem with this device, is fine. I replaced it a year ago and even checked it today again.

I hope you could help me and have some clues what this error could be

thanks!
Luis

Hey guys,

i've got some news on this problem. I just kept my VCR on power a few days (meaning it was on stand by with showing the clock all time) and just tried again to insert a tape. And this time it worked.

Crazy, isn't it? What would you guess is the reason for the problem? Maybe some capacitor? (if yes, which one?)

thanks!

Not crazy. This can happen when caps/internals have to "warm up". So now it's a matter of figuring out which cap is out of value, needs to be replaced.
