Elite Video BVP-4 streak?

1 Attachment(s)
I just bought a "new" Elite Video BVP-4 off ebay. I have it hooked up to my Panasonic AG 1980. When i play a VHS tape for capturing, there is a vertical line on the right side i cant get rid of. It almost looks like it is splitting the frame - approx 3/8" wide on the right edge.

I have tried all adjustments and several tapes, and i cant get rid of it. I am wondering if the Elite Video BVP-4 is defective. The seller said it has been stored unopened in a climate controlled studio and it appeared unopened when i received it.

Anyone else ever have this issue?

I have attached a photo - see dark stripe on right?

Thanks for any help or advice

I've never used one, but I believe this is expected behaviour. It's within the overscan area of the frame, so the designers of the device wouldn't care about that portion given that it was created during the era of CRTs.

See the paragraph underneath the first frame grab: http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/vide...converted.html

There is likely an internal adjustment to alter the "window" that is processed, if you are technically inclined.

THANK YOU msgohan!!!!! A couple turns of the screwdriver and it fixed the problem.

For unknown reasons, this value changes over time. It's actually always concerned me. I've seen one unit where you can't turn the screw anymore to entirely remove the issue.

But I've had mine for 10 years, and it's still behaving.
