Hi everyone, I'm pretty sure a tape is jammed in my Panasonic AG-1980. The video played through just fine, but when it rewound back to the beginning, instead of ejecting, the unit powered off. Powered it back on, after a few seconds it powered off again. I couldn't get it to stay on for more than several seconds.
I found a tutorial online to manually turn the shaft that controls the wormgear on the bottom to release the tape, and it didn't work. The loading arms did go all the way down but they clicked a few times on the way, and the final "click" when the tape is released didn't seem to do anything. I plugged the unit back in and heard what I'm pretty sure was tape flapping around in there. Then the unit beeped 4 times and powered off again.
I don't need to salvage the tape that's in there, but I'm hoping to get it out without damaging the unit. I couldn't see the tape at all with the bottom cover off - too many other parts in the way. I'm a novice, so I'm hesitant to dig deeper without guidance. Any ideas would be much appreciated!
