I'm was in read only mode until now, but now I need some help. I bought one Radeon 9600 AIW on ebay, but after the unboxing I realized that the card haven't any input video port. Do I need any extension port or docking station to use the video in function? I hadn't find any info about this card after googling. Is this a fake card or what?

You need the breakout dongle that plugs into the square multi-pin connector. Otherwise the card can't be used.

Yours is the PAL version of the AIW 9600. Those circular ports are for the Euro style antenna/satellite box cables. I have the NTSC version which happily came with the breakout dongle NJRoadfan is talking about. Believe they were unique to the 9600 series. Very hard to find and most out there (Ebay...) are without. The ATI part number is 6110017300. Good luck!

I think what OP is referring to is the video input DIN connector that seems to be missing on this card. Instead there is an internal connector, which looks like something a ribbon cable would slot into.

Maybe it would be possible to wire it up to an S-Video connector if you can figure out the right pins.

Thanks for your reply! I have this breakout dongle 6110017400, but this is only for video out. I agree with hodgey, the 8 pin connector (the purple one) is missing from this card and need to be replaced. This 8 pin straight internal connector is for video in, but the pinout is unknown.

You need this: http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53...m/362398640556
That plugs into a slot on the current output bundle you have.

That's my favorite ATI AIW AGP card. Nice find. You rarely see those complete with that important wire you already have.

Thanks lordsmurf! If I understood you correctly, I need this dongle and this need to be connected to the only one plug which is marked as video out? Will this work for capturing?

This card was just a quick find on ebay and not a hunting for something special... An usb aiw would be better in this case I think.

Nevermind.

You don't have the correct plug for the card. It's a non-AIW bundle that you have. You're basically screwed. Without the bundle, the card can't capture. At least you can view the graphics, not that you bought it for that. Good card, if even you can complete it.

This from my user's guide concerning the internal header might help:

Pin Signal
1 CVBS/Y in
2 Video Ground
3 Luma/Pr in
4 Video Ground
5 Chroma/Pb in
6 Audio Left in
7 Audio Ground
8 Audio Right in

Wasn't initially paying attention to your photos, showing the absence of the DIN socket for the AV adapter cable which lordsmurf showed in the link. That's different. Looking at my AV adapter mentioned above, all of the connections, including S-Video, are "out", not "in".

Also, my version of the "out" cable has two more outputs than I see on yours: an audio line out mini-plug and the S/PDIF out. Hope this helps.

Regards

The card pictured is likely an OEM model out of something like an HP Pavilion. Those machines usually had the A/V input ports on the front panel of the machine. The card can be used, but you'll have to DIY the breakout using that header.

The pinout sequence and the tip for the front panel are enough me for success!
Thank you very much for the help!
