On the lookout for some splicing blocks to splice tapes properly. Only webstore that have this that I can find is tapecenter. Does anyone have any experience with these?

There is also some person on ebay selling wooden ones, but using wood seems a bit sketchy to me. There are occasionally some editall blocks popping up, though they seem a bit rare and expensive.

Not sure what section to post this in.

EDIT:

After reading a bit more I see it is suggested to transplant one of the parts of a split tape into a new shell, so I suppose that may be better than trying to find a good splicing toolset.

Yeah, don't splice. Excise broken tapes into 2 new shells.
And done.
Capture away.

That auction is hilarious. It looks like he's selling short lengths of a 2x4 for $16.

Splicing is not a good idea for video tape section that will pass over the video heads. Only splice to the clear leader that will never reach the video heads. A less than absolutely perfect splice can trash the heads.

Splicing is OK for audio tapes, provided you use the proper type of splicing tape. Audio heads are pretty rugged compared to video heads.
