Does a Sony DSC-1024HD do time base correction?

Just wondering is a Sony DSC-1024HD could be used as a time base corrector PAL to PAL connected between VCR and Capture unit? Thanks

Do you have one? Lordsmurf has indicated in the past that most standards converters don't perform TBC when input format matches output format. He said they just output the signal as-is; a true bypass output.

It does seem to have genlock capability which would indicate that it can buffer frames without the standards conversion as well. Does not of course mean that it will do a great job.

Presence/lack of genlock doesn't really mean anything, in terms of this conversation.

In almost all cases, standards converters do not timebase correct without conversion. In fact, unless it specifically states that it does perform TBC function for native NTSC>NTSC or PAL>PAL, assume that it does not. This is a rare feature, due to corner-cutting costs savings. It's apparently cheaper to create a unit that only engages TBC at the format conversion.

Sony TBCs are terrible anyway, even if it did work. Which again, I highly doubt it does.
